Today is Ally’s fifth birthday. It’s also her last day at her Montessori school since she starts kindergarten on August 11.
Here is my absolute favorite picture of her. She couldn’t have been more than a day or two old in this one. We had put sock ...

I’m curious what other parents’ policies are on other birthday parties. Nothing is more sucky than having to take your kid to a party for a kid you don’t know and parents who you also don’t know. You hope that you might recognize another kid’s parents at the party so you can at least have idle chatter with someone while your precious seedling gets hopped up on sugary confections.

This has been a real stressful week for all 4 family members, thus the lack of posts. I can’t get into specifics for now but let’s just say there’s a special place in hell for vindictive and petty people. I’m so fucking mad right now that, instead of making lemonade out of lemons, I want to take the uncut lemons and shove them in these peoples’ orifices.

Even though it’s the middle of summer, I’m going to relay yet another story of why hockey players are tougher than any other athletes when it comes to pain tolerance. A buddy/ex-coworker of mine plays in a hockey league down here and this past weekend he suffered a rather gruesome injury while playing. Rather than try to rehash the story, I’ll include snippets of the email conversation he had (with his permission).

What if Dr. Robert Atkins, founder of the (duh) Atkins Diet, actually was a carboholic so much to the point that he tried to file a patent for a breadmaker with the US Patent office, only to find out he was beaten to the punch by someone else? In a fit of revengeful rage, he invented a diet that basically stripped bread out of one’s daily food intake. Thus his master plan to make the breadmaker inventor go out of business during the low carb rage would become complete. Just to make clear, I’m purely speculating here. The last thing I need is the Atkins Estate charging me with slander even though I’m sle ...

Periodically I’ll encounter a driving maneuver that is so insanely dangerous, illogical and ignorant that I interrupt my regularly scheduled blog posts to recap the scene of the crime. Today was one of those days. You can follow along on the crudely illustrated Google Map + MS Paint illustration below.

I apologize for the profanity in the title but when your air conditioning, that was supposedly "fixed" 4 days previous, fails to blow cold air AGAIN, one tends to lose one's patience. So here we are with another sweltering 90+ degree, humid weekend and the upstairs floor is yet again a jungle.
The problem with having those homeowner's insurance policies for things like HVAC and other electronic items in the house is that the repair companies that participate in these programs don't get paid as much as a normal house call. The flip side is it's steady work trickling into their business. But since they don't get their normal rate, they could give a fuck-all about trying to fix your problem. If it's not on th work order, good luck getting them to look at something even if it's a related issue.
When this happened last year and the lower floor AC had the same issue ...
