Bringing my lunch to work a majority of the time (3-4 times a week) has three benefits for me personally. One is to watch what I eat. The second is to save money. Third, and I consider this a key component in my “decompression time”, is to be able to read the newspaper or peruse stuff online during my break (followed by a short walk). I’m fortunate where I have a job that allows an hour lunch break which allows me to eat and relax at a leisurely pace.

It’s just now getting to be cool down here and finally feeling like fall. One of our maple trees out front is just turning and I took a picture of this partially-changed leaf.

Sometimes shyness rears its head in the oddest ways for me. Sure, I was voted Shyest Guy for the 8th grade yearbook and I didn’t really come out of my shell until college and the liberating effects of alcohol brought me out into the open to be able to eventually converse with people while sober.
That opening missive was a roundabout way to segueing my inability to ...

While I abhor most chain mails, I actually enjoy the questionnaire style emails where people fill in answers to short questions about themselves. I got tagged from Amy in NH’s excellent blog and decided to play along. Even if you’ve known me from high school, there’s definitely a few items here that will be new to you.

Due to the fact that my group has a big code release this week, coupled with the reality that I'm spinning my creative juices in neutral right now, and top it off with the realization that every night I keep dreaming I'm in New Hampshire but I wake up in Georgia each morning, I need to recharge the batteries and hopefully have something relevant to write, not to mention maybe I'll have the ability to reduce the amount of run-on sentences I write.
Have a great rest of the week.

Maybe part of it is my adverse reaction to the life-draining hotness of summers in the south but I’ve come to relish autumn as much as any other season. Some of you know which of the four seasons my favorite is, and while spring and summer have their strong points, I’m beginning to lean towards autumn as being my second favorite season. Here are my reasons behind being a fan of a season that most people dread.

Sometimes a phishing email just begs to be repeated. I’ve left the awesome grammar and oddly-formatted sentence structures. My comments are in blue.

Please bear with me this week as I deal with the emotional aspect of surviving yet another downsizing and the resulting additional workload that comes with such a move. It's hard to move forward, even when it probably makes the most sense for the company financially, when your office floor is about 1/4 full and feels like a mortuary. Don’t misinterpret my sentiments above as somehow feeling worse than those unfortunate people who lost their jobs. I feel lucky as hell to once again have survived but each one of these downsizings takes a little chunk out of the ...
