Dear BellSouth and AT&T,
Back in those “pre internet tubes” days, people relied on the phone book to get addresses and numbers. Perhaps the 200 people in the country with no internet access (the ones writing manifestos in the Montana wilderness), combined with a good chunk of the seni ...

I hate it when I’m forced to break my blog rule about no politics but this week’s events have left me no choice.
Remember when the presidency of the United States used to be held in high esteem? I know that ever since Kennedy was exploring Marilyn’s every orifice and Nixon d ...

As a general rule, when rock songs are used in commercials it devalues the whole reason those songs were made. Far be in from me to stop anyone from making a buck, as if you own the rights to a song you can do what you want with it. I do think that established rock bands, ones with a huge catalog from which they receive tremendous royalties from, debase the initial reasons behind the making of those songs when they do this.

I’ve gone on record before saying how I think not only are nurses underpaid for what they do, but doctors actually are too. Anyone that can “work” on and diagnose the most complex machine in the universe deserves every penny they earn. This is the opposite of pro athletes, who make exponentially more than someone who can Fix A Heart Or Brain, who are so out of touch with reality it makes me w ...

Sometimes I wonder if living in a major metropolitan area is worth it. I’ve always been a city boy and like having lots of convenient options for stores and restaurants near me, not to mention the reduced commute. This is a far cry from city living in the 70s and 80s when I was growing up when living within the city limits meant inferior schools, unsafe neighborhoods and a crumbling infrastructure.

One thing I had accepted as fact once I approached my late 20s was that it was OK to “not get” what the younger kids were doing. That’s the whole point of being young – it’s not supposed to make sense to the older generations. They’re carving out their own identity and there is a need to be unique from their elders. While part of that equation is the reality that a lot of things kids do or songs they listen to are rehashes from previous eras, it’s still different to them based on what they know. For this conversation’s purpose, let’s keep it to fashion styles (and music) and not the more alarming trend of younger kids’ se ...

NOTE – I’m breaking a blog rule of mine today. Politics are discussed below, although I do skewer both sides.
I was fooled. Duped. Hoodwinked. And it’s my fault. Ever since he was the Attorney General for the state o ...
