What a Croc
By James on 4/30/2008 8:30 AM

Let's get it out in the air first - Crocs are ugly.  Some would use the term "fugly" to describe them and they'd be right.  While they are perfect for jobs like surgeon or maybe lifeguard, where it doesn't matter if you get them wet, I can see the allure in wearing them even though it looks as though someone wrapped technicolor Swiss cheese around your feet.  They are amazingly light but that doesn't hide the overlying fact that they are hideous to look at.

The Girls on the Tube
By James on 4/24/2008 9:05 AM

I’ve got meetings all day today so no time to compose anything.  In the meantime, enjoy the first two clips I’ve uploaded to youtube involving my loco daughters.

This first one is Ally in February 2007.  The radio sidetracked her from brushing her teeth.  She was also just learning to use headbands at the time.

A Herculean Accomplishment
By James on 4/23/2008 11:20 AM

[begin Proud Husband Moment]

After 2 ½+ years, Megan officially earned her Master’s degree yesterday.  Once she passes her board exams, she will officially become a Nurse Practitioner.  So while my brain is filled with far-too-much useless info like the 1984 Detroit Tigers starting lineup and every Guns N Roses song ever made, she’s actually putting her brain to use with information that can actually do stuff like, you kno ...

When grown men do stupid things
By James on 4/18/2008 10:59 AM

Does peer pressure ever really end for guys?  My guess is 'No' based on an experience at work yesterday.  One of the guys bought us all pints of Ben & Jerry’s (Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough for yours truly) and passed them around yesterday afternoon.  It was a very thoughtful gesture while we’re knee-deep in the middle of a software testing iteration.  Now normally I’ll show some self-restraint and eat my Ben & Jerry’s pints, on the rare occasions that I do have them, in either 3 or 4 days.

A necklace like no other
By James on 4/17/2008 12:40 PM

For those not familiar with the free schwag the doctor’s office where my wife works, read these two posts.  The latest attention grabber though didn’t come from her work, rather her school.  She is wrapping up her Master’s degree next month to become a Nurse Practitioner.  One of her instructors was cleaning out a box and found an unopened bag containing an orchidometer.

An unwanted stowaway
By James on 4/16/2008 11:32 AM

This week has been quite the visual medium on the blog and today is no exception (tomorrow too).  First, I got my oil changed at a Jiffy Lube last Sunday, a place I’ve never gone to before.  I had noticed some new drops of oil on my garage floor but wasn’t sure if they were from before or after my visit there.  Just to put my mind at ease, I popped the hood yesterday morning to make sure I wasn’t low on oil from a leak or something.  To my surprise, I found a little present inside.  Whoever changed my oil filter left the ratchet wrench/filter remover device ...

Tires and blood
By James on 4/14/2008 3:28 PM

I didn’t have much time at lunch to compose anything today due to the following matter I’m taking care of.  My wife’s tire blew out on her Saturday.  Thankfully she was on a residential road and not the highway this time.  As you can see below, it blew out spectacularly.

Cellphone graveyard
By James on 4/9/2008 12:00 PM

By no means are we packrats.  I don’t like to accumulate junk at all so the house doesn’t fill up with useless stuff that we’ll never use again unless it’s a memento.  That being said, I didn’t realize we hadn’t thrown out any of our old cell phones until I noticed our pile in a box this past weekend.  I think we never dumped them since we had the intention of dropping them off at a proper disposal place but never wound up actually doing that (yet).

Murky Mixture Mars My Mirth
By James on 4/8/2008 12:35 PM

I will admit to being a tad anal when it comes to trying to stay clean but yesterday I had a perfect excuse to cleanse myself of toxins.  Our townhome association is having our decks stained (something we do every 2 years) so we need to have all our items removed from the decks.  The one big piece on the deck is the table which consists of a glass top and steel sides and legs.  Since a deck table is more bulky than heavy I had to tip it to the side to get a good grip.

Sisters
By James on 4/7/2008 1:39 PM

Katie has “graduated” to being able to sit in a shopping cart but, in true human nature form, she has found that since her seating area is so comfy, why not lean to one side to bask in all its plushness?  This was taken from my phone yesterday at Dekalb Farmer’s Market.
