Pictures are what’s for breakfast on this fine Monday morning. This weekend the Gwinnett Gladiators celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by dyeing the ice a light green. I had wondered if the players would be able to see the puck but it turns out that visibility wasn’t a huge issue. When the ice was resurfaced for each period, it was easy to see the lines but hard to see the puck. As the ice got scratched and scraped about 5 minutes into each period, the puck was easier to pick up on the white shavings but the blue and red lines were harder to see. Anyway, it was a nice visual and I think the gimmick worked, seeing that they drew 10,200 on Saturday for a minor league game. and a few thousand more than normal for a Sunday afternoon game.
From the penalty box, right after it was resurfaced.

A view on Sunday before the game from the top of the lower level.

I didn’t get a picture at the time this blimp was even lower, almost sitting on the seats to my right. One of the motors had gone awry or something. You can see a fan pushing it upwards with his hand on the right.
