There isn’t a year that goes by without hearing a story of how police nabbed wanted felons with the lure of free season tickets or some other get-something-for-nothing scheme. I thought of this as I was at Comp USA for the third time in the past month. They are closing all their stores in Georgia and the one by my work seems to be where they’re dumping all the other stores’ merchandise. At first, the deals were 20-30% off and now most items are 50-70% off. My discounted purchases have been nowhere near the amount of what some of my coworkers have purchased this month. It's a Nerd Free-For-All in that store but it's also been very orderly as we Nerds respect each other's boundaries and don't want to make human eye contact - whether that be via the eye, limb or shoulder.
The point I’m trying to make here is if police ever wanted to round up a group of pasty-skinned middle-aged white guys, this would be the perfect venue to lure them to. If a guy in I.T. is late on child support or alimony and won’t respond to calls, send him an email that an electronics store is going out of business and everything in the store is 80% off. It’s almost as easy as luring a mosquito to one of those bug-zapping blue lamps.
You won’t get quite the mad rush as you would with those annual bridal gown sales where generally sane women lose their fucking minds as they elbow the brides-to-be next to them in order to buy a $3,000 dress on sale for $300. Since a wedding only happens to people 3 or 4 times in their life, this wouldn’t be a good way to trap a female outlaw. I could travel down the easy-to-navigate Sexist Street and say authorities could lure women in by offering free bonbons that burn calories, but everyone knows no such thing exists.
So, how to lure bad girls into the lair of law enforcement? Do criminal women watch Oprah like the rest of the Hausfrau Nation does? If so, maybe an invite to meet the Goddess of Cash would do the trick. I still can’t grasp how she has such a stranglehold on the XX Chromosome Population. Much like the unwritten Man Laws, there must be some law of nature that says if you have another hole just north of your anus, you have no choice but to like Oprah.
If they’re not TV watchers, then how do we catch them? Tickets and backstage passes to a country music show? This is where it’s hard to categorize female outlaws into one category. With guys, there truly are simple unifying items we can be lured with – sex, beer, sports, electronics or any combination of those four. With wanted women, you don’t know if they’re straight or butch, white/black/Hispanic (we’re leaving the Asian massage whores out of this, as they serve a vital part of our community in unclogging men’s "pipes"), like rock/rap/country – it’s really a crapshoot as how to entice a random group of criminal women. |

| I've heard about the CompUSA closings for a while now, but not had a chance to fend off the sweaty IT uber-geeks for a flash drive (I prefer newegg.com). The 2 Manhattan stores are supposedly remaining open, but the 1 in my hometown is closing... My friend said all the "good shit" was gone in the first few days anyhoo. It seems every retail store I've personally spend $$$'s on goes out-of-business, i.e. CompUSA, The Wiz, my local bodega, my local haircut shop, my local Quiznos, etc... You're right, those store-closing sales gather up all the schnooks and stir 'em into a frenzy-state. |

That guy in IT is already having his wages garnished - we don't do phone calls in California for child support. We do DMV hell and no license renewal without responsibility. And then you get the jury summons in the mail since that's also tied to your driver's license.
Sorry - wait, not sorry - I appreciate what Oprah does and how she does it. She actually cares and has the platform and influence to make others care. Anyone see her (hahahahahaaaa!!! whew.) the 2-part show (last week?) questioning why hip hop uses the same words Imus got fired over and is accepted?
Russel Simmons and other fantastic guests (VP Warner Bros) took a lot of heat from the audience and from her. They especially got trouble from the collegiate women on hand at Spellman. Oprah is an American original and a keeper. So there. On the other hand - I do not like her celebrity fawning shows. No one's perfect.
But not everyone would so bravely admit the reality of their childhood was filled with molestation and rape from within their family. She has overcome hellish obstacles...plus she is a totally self-made woman.
And please stop calling your dry cleaner a whore - she works hard for that money while massaging your ego. |

Yeah OPRAH's got quite a thing going. She has all the women in the world thinking she's just like them. If you've ever seen the show you know she does a geat job of pretending to be humble and "just one of the girls", very convincing. The wife was watching a show where they were giving a house to a single mom of like 9 kids. Not a dry eye in the studio, and of course my precious flower's eyes were welling up as well. I of course I had to pipe up with "if she really wants to be charitable, why doesn't she give this chick one of her NINE houses". Yeah she's jsut one of the girls, with houses she spends 2 weeks a year in all over the world, and she throws fits when the Paris Tiffany's (or whatever store that was) has the nerve to not open up after closing time to accomodate her.
Oprah, the "everywoman" worth 1 BILLION dollars. Here's a thought honey, give away half your money to help whatever your latest cause is. That would leave you with a mere 500 million but it sure would take care of a lot of problems. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet do thigns with their own that really help eople, all the while getting almost no recognition for it. OPRAH drums up publiicty for herself while convinving people worth about 1/100000th of here to donate for a cause.
I knew a producer from her show, was with her going on 10 years at the time and he told me she's a bitch to work for and routinely favors the female members of her staff.
How do you spell fraud? O-P-R-A-H. |

Successful women are *always* a bitch to someone. Seriously. Always. I know. That is a cold hard smart and accepted working woman fact. This is sort of why I don't really like to use emoticons - I shouldn't have to soften my positions.
We all have our opinions, but the facts remain the same. She is a self-made bootstraps-billionaire who doesn't have a PRODUCT other than herself! I don't care who you are, that is phenomenal in the true sense of the word. This without any authorized 'Oprah' logo branded sales.
And while it's not my call, it would my judgment to think what she would do with her money. She's in the public eye - go ahead and judge her for what she should do with her money. Pfffft. She does things. And see (?)- calling her honey is exactly the point, but "honey" - go find some sweetness and acceptance, nah - just continue to be a successful bitch focused on helping other women. Go find CEO billionaire without a heart and chastise them for not sharing the millions from their refineries or their 18 year old tit exposure parties on tape. Your target is far too easy and far less deserving of your scorn for being rich and enjoying it. Gee, she only gave away 10 houses instead of 100, that is realtively juvenile as far as philanthropic arguments go.
How many years passed before Buffet reconsidered and unloaded? It's tough to consider to those who don't like to, but she is a positive influence and already spends her money helping others. I'm not really here to be Oprah's apologist - she doesn't need one.
Bitches rule the world. Deal.

Isn't it funny how people always say they're not here to be someone's apologist after they've written 2 paragraphs apologizing for that person? :):):):) Lgihten up honey :):):):):):):):0);o) XOXOXOXO |

I'm all sweetness and light. Really... (refusing ...hold back..... no stinky.... emoticon. aaaaaargh!!) Okay. Whew. I'm all sweetness and light, really! and feel free to Pfffft. me right back! (grins are allowed)
She still doesn't need one. y'know... I could've made three paragraphs with a touch of my finger. Easy peasy. |
