Being four years removed from having a newborn, there were a flood of memories brought back as Katie entered our world.

  • Taking constant peeks to seeing their chest/back move up and down to reassure you they’re breathing.
  • The cuddling of the top of their head into your neck below your jaw since they don't have developed neck muscles yet.
  • How utterly fragile they are and how you’re their only way to survive.
  • The Night Schedule – those little stomachs need to be fed every few hours and as tired as you may be and don’t want to wake up a sleeping child, you know you need to.
  • The scrunched up, Cartman-like face as they about to cry at the top of their lungs.
  • The not quite focused eyes trying to locate where that voice is coming from.

Since this is number two, I am trying to cut down on accidentally say older one’s name.  I’ve caught myself calling her Ally several times already.  We also need new nicknames to differentiate the two.

Then they get older and do things like:

  • The outstretched arms when they’re happy and also when they’re hurt – you’re their security blanket.
  • The burying of the face into your stomach when being shy around others.

For those of you who requested some actual photos of Katie, here is a link.  Flickr took over Yahoo Photos so I'm hoping they don't require non-Yahoo users to register.  Let me know.

Awww! Sappy pappy!<br>But, "I am trying to cut down on accidentally say(ing) (the) older one’s name"...good luck. Jason's Mom's Mom goes through 2 children, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grand children's names, and rarely hits the right one.
