I tend to steer clear of sending you to links instead of actually writing out a daily exposition, but I have to tip my cap to a comedian who turned on a hostile crowd and didn’t let up. A few weeks ago, there was a large comedy festival in Philadelphia and it was several hours long. In typical Philadelphia fashion, a city that has booed Santa Claus in the past, they began booing each comic mercilessly, even if they were funny. Bill Burr, as soon as he came onstage, decided to excoriate everything Philadelphia held dear to their hearts. It’s the most brutal verbal assault I have ever heard about a city and it is drop-dead hilarious.
The crowd, booing at first while stunned at the attack, begins to laugh and at the end he has the crowd eating out of his hand even while he’s still saying how terrible everything about their city is. To make this even better, he continues to remind them how many minutes he has left in his set. The audio and video is only bootleg quality, but it is decipherable. The beauty of it all is that this was all improvised on the spot. He did none of his usual comedy act. This is 10 minutes of pure, unadulterated bile and you need to listen to every minute of it.
