I have an addiction.
It’s sending my life into a Death Spiral with Satan.
I could stop it if I wanted to but I don’t want to.
Like I talked about a few weeks ago, we now have a Wii and while the Wii Sports game is a blast, it’s Guitar Hero 3 that rules my life. I’m only on Medium speed right now but I feel the need to play at least a few songs each night, climbing up the ladder to Rock Stardom. Soon, the Dragonforce song will bow down to me too.
Tom Morello? Slash? Lou? They’re my bitches. I OWN them. At least on the Easy level. Actually my true obsession began with my failure to beat Tom Morello (from Rage Against The Machine) for a while in the guitar battles since his solo cadence is unlike any other guitarist I know.
And now I just found out that Rock Band will be available for the Wii next month! My nieces brought over their PS3 this weekend with the drum set from it and I can tell that I will also be addicted to that too. Do I sound 17 years old right about now? Probably. Make fun of me. I could care less. Soon I will be a Guitar Hero.

Then again, my idea of a video game “obsession” is nothing compared to most hardcore gamers. Me playing 5 songs a night (maybe 30-45 minutes total) is a drop in the bucket compared to those who play games in 5/6/10 hour sessions. |

I must be getting old. We've had Guitar Hero for the Wii for 2 months now. After setting it up for the boys and making sure it worked by playing a few notes, I haven't touched it. Maybe if I hooked up some big speakers it would hold more appeal ........................................................................................................... Or if I didn't have a life (requisite James slam).

Welcome to my world James.....Once the Aerosmith Guitar hero comes out, I will own that one too. So far I have won all of easy and moderate for the guitar in Rock band. I've only finished 12 Hard songs, and lemme tell ya, they are damn hard. The best one is Metallica's Enter Sandman - that is so much fun to play!

Bad news guys, many of the 7th and 8th graders at my school have mastered GH and would kick your ass.

I'm glad my dad stormed the Normandy beaches and my brother slogged through southeast Asia and I stormed the beach at Grenada - okay, maybe not stormed - but I did get a wicked burn, just so you can spend your children's formative years playing Guitar Hero. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my Strat-O-Matic game and the Easy-Bake oven just dinged. I think my cupcake's ready!

TSAC, you're right, I'd get wiped out by any kid playing these games. General, I promise I don't play this game until both girls are asleep! As for the new pic, for those not in Georgia that's the upstairs entrance to the Belgian beer taps at the Brick Store Pub. It was a very busy night there but I somehow managed to snap a camera phone shot when no one was in the frame.

Aw James, I loaded up Rock Band last night and they've added a new Music Store where you can download new songs...well they have Ride the Lightning, Eye of the Beholder and Frayed Ends of Sanity by Metallica! Looks like I have some new songs to learn!

That's the one drawback to the Wii. At least initially, because of lack of hard drive space, we won't be able to download new songs when RockBand comes out...at least for now. But they're working on resolving that. In the meantime, I can try to master "One" on Guitar Hero.
