RIF, Rinse, Repeat, RIF, Rinse, Repeat... Minimize

Today’s blog post has once again been postponed due to ANOTHER Reduction In Force at work.  This time it was 20% of the company.  And once again I survived.  This one hurts the most though.  Our office alone lost 33% of its workforce today and some of the people let go were ones I really enjoyed working with.

This is getting beyond insane.  I feel fortunate once again but this happens way too often.  We lost a LOT of good people today.

That sucks...but you're a fortunate son...you still have your job

Time to brush off the resume and start looking for a new job for real. I am glad that you have spent enough time on your knees, know how to keep your teeth out of the equation and have waived the $250K price tag often enough to continue to be gainfully employed, but the headsman's axe has not swung for the final time. Multiple layoffs = company ship going down. You may have survives this long, but eventually your luck will run out. Also, now that 20% of the company is gone, it will fall on the other 80% of you to pick up the slack and work harder to make up for the shortfall. This of course will just make working there that much more miserable with the resentment factor of having to do someone else's work plus your own so that the CEO can continue to drive his BMW in every day at noon and leave at 12:02. I'll put in a good word for ya here if you want, we can always use another decent janitor!

Holy sh--, that is more than a reduction - 33% - that is a bloodletting, my dear. And how were the signs on the wall that it was pending - were they large or were they non-existent? Do you work in the corporate headquarters (?) - that is good in times like this. Erich has a point... (However, James' company might not be like the veemush outfit, nothing changes around there. Except the addition of layers separating the [potentially laid-off] workers from the ever increasing VP roll call and the ultimate asswipe at the pinnacle of their/his assitude.) That sucks, hang in there while the wind blows harder...

If this were Survivor you'd be close to the million. But, it ain't, so continued good luck. It doesn't hurt to float surreptitious trial balloons at this time.

Sorry, off topic....KB's - thanks for the best wishes......evacuated, returned....one tree down, brushed against the house, minor damage.....lots of limbs.....lots of cleanup....just trying to keep on keeping on. Was playing Survivor with James, apparently.
