Where's my head?

For those of you who have read this blog regularly, you might have noticed a dearth of postings as of late – at least anything of substance anyway. There have been reasons for this but nothing I want to air out in a public forum. I’m going through an intense period of soul-searching where I’m re-evaluating myself on a lot of criteria and also planning for the future.
The “problem” with this is, for this first time since I started this blog in 2005 is that, unlike having writers’ block, I have an indifference to writing (at least for the past few weeks). This has never happened to me and so I need to take a step back and try to figure out why. Writing is my drug of choice and I have no plans on quitting my habit so I want to figure out how to get hooked again.
Stay tuned. I might be back tomorrow or it might take longer. I honestly don’t know. |

What is the equivalent to a methadone clinic for the writer? Maybe not touching a pen/keyboard for a week and getting cleaned back to the state of the non-writing-literate. Then your first posting afterward feels really really good again. <br><br><br><br>Personally, I have liked the blog as much these last months as I have since the beginning.

Sounds like you left your head along the Kancamangus Hwy... It's always the last place you look!

JD, you might be spot-on about that. Maybe I should go back up there and look for it. :)

Hooqued on Fonicks wurked fore me! - I can relate to what you are feeling in that for 13 years I have been a part of several online hockey leagues and this year I realized I just didn't want to do it anymore. It has been something I loved, but for whatever reason, I just up and quit them all. I have a certain feeling of "restlessness" which I could prob attribute to work, wedding planning, age, health, finances, loss of loved ones which are all probably contributing to my malaise. In the past I may have thought that it was depression, but I've been there and this is different. I am relatively happy...I just sort of feel like I should be doing something else....

Erich, funny you mention that. Obviously I don't play the online games (although I am addicted to Rock Band and Guitar Hero) but I have totally dropped online fantasy sports from my life. Haven't missed them yet either. So, yes, the Brooklyn Tax Dodgers are a dead team as of next season. In actuality, they were dead after about a month into this season.

No fantasy sports? That's just kooky talk. Re your blog, I hope you re-capture your Calliope. (That thar's what we'ins in TN call a muse reference!) If not, I'm going to have to start corresponding with Erich or something - and he's got malaise. Is that contagious?

I was wondering why you and Erich didn't get in the hockey league this year. I thought it was just because you guys were tired of routinely getting outmatched by a clearly superior hockey mind such as myself, but I guess not.

Welcome to the onset of midlife crisis. I started feeling the same way a few years ago. Kind of like "OK I've go the 2 kids, the house, decent job, same thing every day..now what?" Of course then I got laid off twice in the span of a year and I was longing for the boring life again. Still feeling restless and unfulfilled, but what can you do about it when there's very little time between family and job? ..................................................................................................... Funny I'm "down" to 2 fantasy football teams and 1 hockey team. Hanging around .500 with all of them and don't really care either way. It's still an entertaining diversion though.

James must be telepathically (and unwillingly) be sending me his mad writing skillz, because I just got back into working on my manuscript again... Although I'm not sure which is harder: writing a daily blog or writing fiction. Just need to figure out how to write in Pale Blue James himself into a cameo appearance...

You will get your groove thing back or your readers will have to put with us talking amongst ourselves. TORTURE, my friend, TORTURE. |

It's Friday and I still am on 'E'. Not sure what's gonna happen next but I definitely need a muse. Or at least something a-MUSE-ing to happen so I can write about it. :)

I know it is hard to come by later in life. But I have your solution. A major binge on some good drugs!! We are talkiing Hunter S. type binge. Crack the amlys, take your next walk with a little ether, and don't forget about your satanist friends for that adrenochrome. Fuck it, find a passed out bum and cut that adrenal gland out yourself and eat it right then and there.

LOL. I might have to fry the adrenal gland though, as it would be too rubbery for my liking. But would I be baking the good stuff out of it if I went that route?

Hi James. I've been on vacation since November 7th, but why don't you just relaaa-aaax about it. No pressure. Oh plus, as an added bonus for your temporary withdrawal/stultification, the holiday season is here - I figure that's (not) going to help...? I too, have enjoyed recent posts. But - are you craving a little red sports car or something?

[And what about double-posting - will that help you?] Non sequitur: I was there when the nephews (9, 7 and 4) were told that they should make a wish list for Christmas. All I could think of was the pony that was on my list year after year...
