There’s a good chance they might not play another game until Saturday due to an unnaturally huge storm blasting it’s way through the Midwest.  I wonder if there’s ever been 2 rainouts in a row in World Series history?  With MLB pushing back the season further and further into autumn, we’re now almost guaranteed a November World Series game if this thing goes 7 games.  Thankfully St. Louis is south of Detroit because when you start playing outdoors at this time of year, anything place of the Mason-Dixon line could have a snowstorm, especially since no game is played before 8:30 PM EST.

While I don’t detest the Cardinals, they’re obviously The Enemy this week so I must make fun of a fan’s sign that was at Game 3.    It alluded to the 3 times the Tigers and Cardinals have faced each other in the World Series - - ‘34, ‘68, and ’06.  The sign said something like “3 in a row” with 3 cards showing those years' numbers, but what made it funny was that if that Cardinals fan had actually known their history, they would have known the Tigers WON in 1968.  But I'm sure one's brain becomes muddled when living in a city known derisively by Chicagoans as "Milwaukee Without The Lake Breeze".

I felt bad for John (Don’t call me Cougar) Mellencamp’s group before Game 2 when they were trotted out to home plate for a blatant plug for his new album and then Crazy Cougar didn’t show up for a good 5 minutes, leaving his singing compatriots to shuffle their feet, look around nervously, made idle nervous chatter, and shove their hands in their pockets.  If I’m the program director from Fox at that point, I would have firmly pushed The Artist Formerly Known As Cougar outside and wouldn’t have cared if a heroin needle was still stuck in his arm.  “Get your ass out there, you primadonna.  Who do you think you are?  Axl Rose?”

Is Fox capable of having anyone sing the National Anthem or God Bless America besides country music stars and American Idol rejects?  Sadly, I wasn’t that impressed with Anita Baker’s version of the national anthem in Game 2 but I’ll give her a mulligan on that one since it must be tough to make the vocal cords work properly when the temperature is in the 30s.

This year's playoff rain delays have been frustrating... Maybe next yr, MLB should take the SuperBowl approach and have the WS in "neutral" domed stadium, like in Toronto or Tampa Bay...yeah, right...heehee.

As for these country music stars and American Idol rejects...I TOTALLY AGREE!! What the fuck happend to using rock stars, guitarists, and/or real performers? Start with homegrown talent...i.e. in Detroit: have Kid Rock perform. Even Eminem would be better...

The last great Anthem I've heard: On October 5, 2000, Joe performed the US National Anthem at the Giants/Mets game at Pac Bell Park in SF, CA

Update - Game 6 of both the 1962 and 1975 World Series each were rained out three times.

I agree, the MLB has pushed the season waaaay too far into autumn -- everyone's attention is firmly entrenched in football.

As for St. Louis, I thought it was "Just like Milwaukee, including the Clysdale shitbreeze."

Fox sucks in so many ways, an entire blog could be dedicated to it...and probably already is.

Right now, I am just a short distance from the stadium and the playing of the world series, the closest I have come in my 35 years. Even had access to tickets if I wanted.
Right now, I am watching a rerun of Grey's Anatomy in my hotel room, cause I could give a shit about softball!

Milo, do you REALLY want to make public that you watch Grey's Anatomy?!?! Hopefully there's a maxipad/tampon dispenser in your hotel bathroom.

Now Now, Let's not judge Milo. Other readers of this blog might watch Grey's Anatomy in hopes that this might just be the episode where Katherine Heigle and Ellen Pompeo decide it is time to raid the storage closet and try out a little KY-Jelly Wrestling.

I'm Just Saying!

Hey Milo, so who do you think is the hottest guy on the show lol....the fag or the other one?

Re: Rain Delay    By Milo on 10/27/2006 10:23 PM
Personally I like McSteamy!
In reality, I think the red head ob is the hottest thing on the show.
Please kill the asian, they could wrestle and choke her with the tube of KY
