There used to be one refuge from the bad commutes in Atlanta but that has finally disappeared too. It used to be the Friday morning commute, for whatever reasons, generally was hassle-free. This is no longer. The only days where there is a respite from bad traffic are holidays and if the exit you enter the highway is past where a major accident has occurred.
Just in the short time since I moved down here, there are several areas where there is no such thing as a reverse commute. Pretty soon that will reach everywhere in Atlanta as more and more people move intown to reduce their insane commuting times. This has happened in Chicago in the past decade, where going out to the suburbs for work is just as hectic as driving from the suburbs into downtown.
Even a supposed week like this, where there generally are fewer commuters due to holiday vacations, the traffic has been horrendous. Of course, I made myself feel a little better by finally filing a report with the Georgia Better Business Bureau today in regards to my situation with my jerkoff contractor/neighbor.
I plan on leaving him a copy of the official complaint on his doorstep tonight in an envelope labeled “Happy Holidays”.
